Hello there! I'm Tyler!
I'm the face behind Knot & Wander.
I first picked up a camera 8 years ago. Not to shoot weddings, but to film my friends and I on our adventures. We would go climb mountains, jump off cliffs, and all sorts of other life threatening things that 20 year olds do.
As I learned new skills with my camera, I got new opportunities to begin shooting portraits and eventually, my first wedding.
Shooting that first wedding was eye opening. It was so much fun, and I was so happy to deliver the photographs to the couple, but one thing was off...
The photos looked just like every wedding photo I had ever seen before.
They didn't look bad, but they were all standard, awkward poses that didn't capture the real emotion that was happening throughout the day.
I realized that while I was learning how to shoot a wedding, every photographer I learned from was showing me these generic, unauthentic poses.
I promised myself that I would never take that approach to weddings again. I wanted to be different. I wanted work that I was proud of, and I wanted to deliver unique, memorable photos to any couple that I had the honor of photographing.
That promise led me to develop the process that I have now. A wedding photography experience that feels like an adventure and captures the candidness and realness of every couple I photograph.
I want you to remember your wedding day as a true adventure. A day that you were completely in the moment and present with your partner. A day that you'll look back on with a smirk on your face and say, "I don't think we will EVER be able to top that"

My Story
I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Anything that gets my heart racing is where you will usually find me. I have travelled to 28 countries, ride about 25,000 miles per year on my motorcycle, and have dreams of climbing Everest.
You will be hard pressed to find me without a camera in my hand. When I'm not shooting weddings, I am almost certainly shooting either Astro photography (photos of the stars), or Adventure photography (I even host multiple workshops a year on those subjects!).
I am an avid Skier, Rock climber, Mountaineer, and Cliff diver. I even have been paid to travel to other countries and jump off of 100+ foot waterfalls! I have led successful expeditions to the summits of several mountains such as Rainier and Whitney.
I try to have an overly positive outlook on life no matter the situation. I am a big advocate for "Type 2 fun". If you don't know what that is, feel free to ask me.
I'm incredibly extroverted and love hearing other people's stories. Typing up this about me was harder than I thought it would be since I almost never talk about myself.
